Hello year 6!
Hello Y6 - missing you already!
Have a look at the work that I've set for you to complete at home. Each week there'll be some maths, writing and topic work for you to do. Make sure you complete the work as if you are in the classroom - have pride and make sure it's your best. If you need a reminder of my expectations, there's a document that has them on.
Remember! You'll be going to high school soon so get into the routine of producing high quality work.
Maths
You've got a new topic - Ratio and Proportion. Watch the videos on the 'Core work' document to get a good understanding of each day's work. Then imagine it's a normal maths lesson - choose 1C, 2C or 3C from the fluency document and when you've done that, choose some reasoning and problem solving questions.
Writing
Your writing task is on the 'Core work' document. It's pretty self explanatory (if you remember the water cycle). I've given you an example to help you with the structure. Lots of detail, description, powerful vocabulary and exciting sentence structures please!
In addition to the writing, make sure you spend some time reading! Reading is breathing in; writing is breathing out!
Topic
I've given you a nice creative task to begin with. Find as much waste plastic as you can over the course of the week and be creative with it - models, collage - it's up to you.
Feel free to post any of your work to your Seesaw page and I'll make sure I comment on it.
Week 2
Hello Y6! First of all I'd like to say thank you for sending me pictures of your work and other things you've be getting up to. I'd like to make sure we're all doing something together over the course of this week so make sure you do your work out with Joe Wicks at 9 every morning. I did them all last week and it got me ready for the day. I couldn't walk for the rest of the day, but I still enjoyed them. Here are some ideas for work this week.
Stay safe.
Week 3 - 20th April
Hello Y6 - it's been a while!
I hope you've all had a lovely Easter break and enjoyed the fabulous weather we've been having. Have a look at the following documents for your maths, writing and topic work. Also, keep an eye on our SeeSaw page for a few extra challenges!
27th April
Hello again year 6. Another week of amazing weather for you to enjoy. Thanks again for keeping in touch with pictures of your work and other things you've been doing.
Below is everything you need for this week's work.
4th May
Hi everyone!
I hope you're all safe and well. Another week of lockdown work is upon us but the more I hear in the news, the more positive I feel that we'll all see each other again before the end of the year in some way - keep your fingers crossed!
This weeks work is all attached below. Feel free to post any of this work, or anything you do, on to SeeSaw for me to see.
See you all soon!
11th May 2020
Hello Y6 and HAPPY SATS WEEK!!!! I'm sure there'll be mixed feelings about not being able to do your SATs this week but I'm definitely disappointed that you won't get to show off everything that you've been working so hard on. I've uploaded everything you'll need for this week - make sure you look at the 'Core work' document first as this has everything you need to know on it. I've uploaded the same maths sheets that I initially uploaded last week plus a few extra ones.
If you would like to take some SATs papers this week, you can search for 2019 SATs papers and it will take you to the government website where you can download them.
18th May
Well done Y6 - you made it through SATs week! I hope ou feel proud of yourselves!
In the week after SATs we should be looking at our end of year production and auditioning for parts. Unfortunatley this year is going to be a little bit different and instead we've got some normal work to do. Please give this work your best and show off what you are capable of. I'm going to send a PING out early this week to try and organise a zoom meeting on Thursday when I'm in school - it would be great to see you all!
Please ignore the random division calculation on the core work sheet!
